On March 2, 2014, Revival Pioneers Ministry International held its very first worship service in Surrey, British Columbia. There were only three people present: my wife, our eight-year-old daughter, and me.
There was no building of our own, no large congregation, and no guarantee of what the future would hold. There was only a conviction that God had called us to serve this community, and that if we remained faithful, He would do what only He could do.
He has. Today, RPMI has grown into a vibrant, multicultural church family of approximately 150 members, including a growing Spanish-speaking congregation. More than that, God has used this ministry to transform lives, strengthen families, welcome newcomers, mentor young people, and bring hope to people across Surrey and the Lower Mainland.
We Do Not Simply Hold Services.
We Rebuild Lives.
Grace arrived in Canada with no network, no job, and no place she truly felt she belonged. When she walked through the doors of RPMI, she found far more than a church service. She found a family.
Members of our church helped her secure her first job in Canada, helped her find a home, and walked alongside her through one of the hardest seasons of her life. Today, she says the lives of her entire family have been transformed, not by a program, but by people who refused to let her walk alone.
David had lived on the streets for two years before finding his way to RPMI. My family took him in, and members of our church cared for him, helped him regain his dignity, and walked alongside him until he was able to secure employment and begin rebuilding his life.
Stories like his remind us why this ministry exists. We do not simply gather people for worship. We help people rebuild their lives through the love of Christ.
Why We Need a Permanent Home
For more than twelve years, every worship service, every children's program, every youth initiative, every marriage seminar, every counselling session, and every outreach program has taken place in rented facilities. We are grateful for every space God has provided. But renting has become increasingly unsustainable.
Over the past twelve years, we have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in rental facilities that have faithfully served us for a season, yet none of those payments have built equity, created long-term stability, or secured a permanent home for future generations. Our current facility has also been designated for redevelopment, making our continued occupancy uncertain.
Rent gives us a place to meet today. A permanent home gives future generations a place to belong.
